Felt Bicycles Recall Attorneys
On February 22, 2011, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Felt Bicycles is recalling about 1,550 2011 adult bicycles due to a problem with the bicycle’s fork, which can break, and cause the rider to lose control and crash. The recall includes all 2011 Felt F3, F4, F5 and F75 bicycles with carbon fiber frames and carbon fiber forks – about 1,550 units. The F3 bicycles are satin carbon/satin white with red decals. The F4 bicycles are satin carbon/satin white with grey decals. The F5 bicycles are satin cabon/satin red or matte black with diamond shape design. The F75 bicycles are gloss navy. According to the CPSC press release, the bicycles, manufactured by ADK Technology Limited of Guang Dong, China, were sold at bicycle specialty stores nationwide from July 2010 through November 2010 for between about $1,400 and $5,000 per bicycle. The CSC advises consumers who own the recalled bicycles to immediately stop using them and contact their local Felt Bicycles dealer to arrange an inspection and repair. For additional information, consumers may call Felt Bicycles toll-free at (866) 433-5887 or (866) 4-FELT-US.
What to Do After an Accident
When bicycle forks break, riders may be thrown over the handlebars and land hard on asphalt, or lose control and collide with another cyclist or a car. If you have been involved in a bicycle accident involving a recalled Felt bicycle, and suffered a serious injury such as a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or broken bones, contact an experienced bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible. In any accident where a design or manufacturing defect is suspected, preservation of evidence is essential. Do not have the bicycle destroyed or repaired. Contact Estey Bomberger to discuss your case with an attorney who can arrange to have your bicycle examined by an engineer or other expert qualified to determine the cause of your accident.
Bicycle Defects and Injured Cyclists’ Rights
A defect in a bicycle which causes a cyclist to lose control and crash may result in serious, potentially life-changing injuries or death. Whether you were riding a mountain bike, a touring bike, or a racing bike, if your bike failed under reasonable use, causing injury to you, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries from the manufacturer of the bicycle. Compensation may include medical care expenses and lost earnings, as well as pain and suffering. Because manufacturers are willing to invest millions defending their products, it is important to choose a California bike accident lawyer with experience and proven case results handling product liability cases. Although every case is different, with unique facts and circumstances, an experienced attorney who has handled dozens of defective bicycle accident claims may be able to recover substantially more compensation for your injuries than an attorney with little or no experience representing cyclist injured by defective bicycles.
